The Morgue ep 105 SPECIAL EP. MTV conspiracy

Hi welcome back to the MORGUE  Today is Halloween so what better way to kick off the holiday like a special holiday bonus episode. Today we will be talking about the MTV conspiracy. Now this conspiracy theory is one about television as a whole. Every one that grew up with 80's MTV will always say that this was the golden age of MTV, then you can look at the next  and even the next decade thought that there MTV was the better. This is not only evident for MTV but also  Cartoon network. Cartoon Network has some surprisingly dark tones in some of there TV shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show. Now the shows themselves are not dark on their own, but they can include sub plots or characters that mean a more darker meaning than one would think. One repeating dark theme in all theses cartoons is in their final season the big bad guy isn't a typical bad guy. He's some big corporate guy telling them that they can't do the show anymore until they prove why they should continue. This is extremely evident in the final season of The Amazing World of Gumball were this is the main plot of many episodes in that season. I think this explains why were never satisfied with TV like we were when we grew up with it. As much as these show runners these creators want to keep their passion going they can't because ultimately the big man who cuts the checks decides what gets to be shown. Now this makes it seem like  we should attack the big man right? Well no we should be mad with ourselves because we tell the big man what we want to see. These creators want to keep making these shows but because the general mass wants something new and bold we then cut off these versions of television we love. Now your probably asking yourself how is this scary and that is because the older we get the less satisfied with television we'll be.  Tv will never be the same.

The Morgue ep. 104

Hi, welcome back to THE MORGUE. Scream season 2 has finally wrapped and it's now my favorite scream project of all time.  It finally did what I wanted from the series for a long time. It dove into the characters psyche and it adds a whole other layer that we've never seen before, PTSD. PTSD is a disorder that is triggers of anxiety and flashbacks caused by experiencing or witness a traumatic event. It's strange that more horror sequels don't dive into this as a plot device in horror more, they go hand in hand. When a group of teenagers survive a killer of course they're gonna be traumatized. I believe most shows don't want to dive deep into it because it is a touchy subject. In the show every character either experiences an event  that gives them ptsd or they have to deal with a trigger that they were given in season 1. This season turns the dial to 11 on everything other than the murders but it's still entertaining as a character study. The first body isn't discovered until episode 5 of season 2. Every episode before deals with character drama but they keep it so interesting you don't even care because it's unraveling a bigger mystery that was left from the first season. When we get into the season everyone has so much emotional baggage you can't help but feel bad for all of them. All the other Scream projects made you care about the main characters not from a human version of caring, but knowing the character is important type of caring. This show makes you care as if they are your friend...., your family. This season dedicates an episode all about dealing with a favorite character death and from the point on it escalates to a story of dealing with a friend passing away. There is a point in the show where ghost face attacks the characters most afflicted this season and you really see how these events affected them mentally. They no longer run or fight back they drop there weapons and freeze as if it were easier to die. That episode will be the main focus of my video essay. Thank you for reading and see you next time on ... THE MORGUE

The Morgue ep 103

Welcome back fellow readers. I've nearly finished scream The first season is done and the dirt has settled. Many questions have been answered, but more questions have been asked. Since the ending exposes who the killer is, it makes you ask yourself then why was that character attacked by another Ghostface and who is the new accomplice? The show does a good job of making you wonder who is the killer. Many main characters feel like they could be the killer, minus one character Noah. Noah is our nerdy relate-able character. He represents our common perspective. You as a viewer trusts him the most because he is us, the common viewer, He knows the rules of horror movies. This makes him feel invincible.  That is one thing you don't want in a horror project. Thats really my only major complaint for this season. MTV really flexes it's producing chops and provides a wonderful soundtrack with a special track list including, Hold Me Down by Mansionair and All We Do by Oh Wonder (songs I recommend). The show allows you to listen to fantastic songs that you wouldn't really strive to listen too. Now I love season one and I think it is a great reminder that the great Wes Craven was really ahead of his time, rest in piece you trail blazer. Season 2 really changes everything you know. It no longer sticks to it's roots and really changes the subject matter to fit these characters and no longer just the horror category. Season 2 produces my favorite episode of TV of all time. In 45 minutes this episode puts you through many mental hoops. LIGHT SPOILER: You get a whole episode that is dedicated for you , the viewer, to be ready for a character death. In all reality the episode is a slow burn that makes you grow as a person and make you feel like you are going through the 7 stages of grief. Thank you for reading, and dear reader this has been the newest episode of THE MORGUE.
