The Morgue ep 102

Welcome to Lakewood, we are no longer in the quaint town of Woodsboro.  As much as anyone knows none of that ever happened nor does it matter to the story. 1.1 Million viewers signed on to see a new version of Scream. A whole new group of teens just waiting to be murdered is Emma, Audrey, Noah, Brooke, and Kieren. Emma is our stereotypical final girl. Audrey is our emo/goth  girl. Brooke is the blonde cheerleader. Kieren is our brooding love interest for Emma. Noah our main man is the horror movie god. As much as this story changes the plot of Scream it really uses the structure of Wes Craven, who was still with us when the show was running. The first season is a great love letter to what Wes Craven gave us back in 1996. The show knows that slasher movies are not supposed to be in TV show format and instead of making a meta joke about it, they use it to their advantage. In a horror movie you spend an hour getting to know people and thirty to forty minutes to watch them die. Noah says in the show, "You can't make a slasher film into a TV show, think about it. Girl and her best friends arrive at the dance, the camp, the deserted town whatever. Killer takes  them out one by one. Ninety minuets later the sun comes up and the survival girl is sitting in the back of the ambulance as she watches her friends bodies being wheeled passed. Slasher movies burn bright and fast TV likes to stretch things out." The show uses this to its advantage and stretches out the killings so you spend the 7 hours knowing the characters and 3 hours wondering what will be their fate and caring about what happens to them. Scream was always a who done it, so the tv show is able to stretch out and make you really wonder who did it. IT WILL LEAVE YOU DYING TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT.  Thank you for your time and see you next week for a new episode of.... THE MORGUE

Scream blog 101

I changed my project a bit and started with the movies of scream to understand where it failed.
Scream one gained a lot of respect for its use of meta jokes and rewriting common slasher horror movies.
The sequels tried to do the same thing and top and change the horror genre even more. This didn’t work
too well and it made the plot and motives more unbelievable and unbearable. The movies are still
entertaining but it is evident that because what the movies where trying to do,it  dug a hole for the
writers that they couldn’t get out of. This is most evident in Scream 3 The first episode of the TV show
seems to be more character and murder focused and does a good job of making a slasher movie into a
show. It makes the kills harder to watch because they’re characters that you care about.
This is JaCoB rEeD signing off and saying welcome to …
